International CPTED Association 2025 Conference, Palm Springs, CA

Richard Stones OBE and Boguslawa Motylska were among the speakers at the 2025 ICA International Conference, held in Palm Springs, California, from May 11 to 14, 2025. The conference centered on the implementation and application of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), featuring practical case studies to illustrate its effectiveness.

CPTED-UK delivered a presentation highlighting the importance of cross-sector collaboration in managing urban security risks. Drawing on both historical and recent experiences as CPTED practitioners in the UK, they used case studies to uncover less obvious influences on urban planning and design. The presentation explored CPTED principles within political, psychological, and behavioral contexts, emphasizing commonly overlooked challenges in implementing these strategies.

Other topics that were discussed included recent trends in community safety, applying holistic CPTED methods to prevent crime, successful case studies, and the latest technology. Delegates gained a better understanding of CPTED and had the opportunity to inspire, share knowledge and experiences, discuss successes and challenges, and consider ways of integrating CPTED into their efforts to create safer communities.
