We were honoured to present on “Embedding CPTED and Security in Urban Master Planning” during the Future Security Summit on the second day of Intersec Saudi Arabia 2025 in Riyadh. The event offered a unique platform for discussing the integration of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) in urban security—an approach that aligns perfectly with the global sustainability agenda.
On the first day, several presentations and panel discussions highlighted the importance of CPTED as a key strategy for enhancing urban safety. Notably, a panel dedicated to security integration in Giga-Projects featured representatives from Red Sea Global, New Murabba, and the King Salman Park Foundation, offering valuable insights into how CPTED principles can be embedded in large-scale developments. This conversation set the stage for CPTED-UK’s contribution, focusing on research & development, capacity building, and the evolving nature of CPTED practices.
Our presentation highlighted the critical role of experience in successfully embedding CPTED strategies into urban planning and design. We shared real-world stories drawn from diverse fields—ranging from British police work to academia, international R&D projects, NGOs, and small enterprises—that showcased the rich variety of perspectives and cultural approaches to security in urban spaces. This approach sparked significant interest and generated positive feedback, continuing through lively discussions well after the session ended.
Visiting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was an incredible experience, both professionally and personally. We were deeply impressed by the high-quality presentations, engaging panel discussions, and the well-curated exhibition. The networking opportunities provided by Messe Frankfurt further enriched our experience, enabling meaningful connections with industry leaders and innovators.
